Introducing Grandbaby #1
God’s gift of life Our world changed on February 5, 2009 with the arrival of Brianna Cole Sanchez. We were all on pins and needles with Elizabeth’s pre-term labor which began on New Year’s Eve, 2008. She and Beau spent much of the next five weeks in hospitals awaiting baby’s respiratory development. Finally, all was go and a caesarean section was performed. Though Brianna was over a month early, she was a healthy five plus pounds. |
The Sanchez family
God is blessing us with the gift of a new grand daughter. Mama and Daddy Sanchez have done an amazing job of combining parenting with third floor apartment-living in the heart of San Francisco. Yes, we are all praying for a house with a laundry-room - in southern Oregon add Grandma and Grandpa. |
Family Vacation on the Rogue River
River-rafting on the Rogue Our kids plus Judy’s sister, Tina and niece, Christie descended on Sheep’s Rest in July, 2009, for a family reunion. Camping and river rafting were on the agenda along with an uninterrupted week with Brianna Cole. Judy, Tina and Christie also drove north to Sisters, Oregon to visit Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch which rescues abused horses and watches God use them to heal emotionally starved kids. |
The sale of our home of 31 years
The sale of our home of 31 years We finally did it. What a production to ready our California home to sell! Judy and the girls did the aching (good byes aren’t for sissies) while David tackled the back-breaking list of endless details with the help of many skilled workers. Garrett Mock and Eloise Pollock were our intrepid realtors who held our hands and buoyed our spirits. Judy’s prayer, "God, send a family who will love this idyllic property like we did," was answered. Judy’s blessing upon meeting the enthusiastic buyers, a husband and wife with a baby on the way, was, "David and I raised our three daughters and grew old here. Now God says, ‘It’s your turn.’ " |
We all admired cousin Beverly's designs
Visiting cousin Beverly in Sequim, WA Hurray, David’s wish was granted - a vacation in the Pacific Northwest. We added some sight-seeing and visiting family/friends on to Judy’s three Christian Women’s talks in the Corvallis area. We enjoyed Seaside on the Oregon coast, the Olympic and Mt Rainier National Parks, Sequim, Orcas Island which is one of the San Juan Islands and Seattle. Fun, fun, fun!

A drive up to scenic Olympic National Park
A drive up to scenic Olympic National Park David loves the national parks. I like doing accessibility research, then travel articles about national parks. Awaking to a downpour at Mt. Rainier, we know now how it got it’s name. Driving out in the downpour, David announced he’d like to return. Judy’s response, "You could come back for a honeymoon with your second wife." |
Andrew and Naphy - Gunther and Gretel
Naphy and Andrew Naphy, our barista at Starbucks, has just changed jobs and is doing part-time work at a solar tech company in the bay area and the other part time doing freelance graphic design work. She’s also excited about a guy named Andrew. We are too. |
